About nammade

India holds multitudes — every state, every kitchen, its own rhythm and flavor. But in the mainstream, only a handful of dishes have made it to the spotlight.


Nammade means ours in Malayalam — our mother tongue, our homeland, our kitchen. This blend is our humble contribution to the larger Indian table: made in Kerala, carried across oceans in suitcases stuffed with samples, shaped by aunties taste-testing in their homes, friends sketching artwork late at night, and a whole collective of people rooting for the same thing.


We started Nammade to make space for Kerala’s bold, complex flavors — the kind passed down through instinct, not recipe cards. We wanted to bring that depth into everyday kitchens, and to offer something that feels like memory in a packet.


And like any good host in our culture might say: kazhichu po. Eat before you go. We hope this is your taste of home — or at the very least, a warm invitation to ours.

We’re siblings — born in the U.S., raised in the hills of South India, and shaped by kitchens on both sides of the world.


Our childhood smelled like monsoon rain, coconut oil in our hair, and chicken curry and chapatis. But growing up between cultures meant we were always reaching for something in the middle — the flavor of home, even when “home” wasn’t one place.


Years later, we went looking for Kerala cuisine — in restaurants, in grocery stores, in the spice aisles of America. But it was hard to find anything that spoke to our specific corner of India. North Indian food was everywhere. But South Indian, and especially Kerala cuisine? It was almost invisible.


One summer, Annie and dad started cooking a chicken curry that smelled so good we joked about packaging it up and taking it with us. So… we did.


We called our aunties. We tested recipes over long-distance calls. We lugged bags of spice samples through customs. We asked friends to taste, to illustrate, to tweak, to try again. We called it Nammude — ours.


Not just because we made it — but because it belongs to everyone who’s craved that first bite of something familiar. Everyone who’s longed to make the flavors that raised them part of their own rhythm. Everyone who knows you never leave a house without hearing kazhichu po.


This is our way of bringing Kerala to the world. One blend at a time.
